Whether you are buying, selling or would like to perform a routine diagnostic of a horse, USA Equine Thermal Imaging is valuable for your horse’s health and your finances.

USA Equine Thermal Imaging

Before Thermography, Veterinarians could only locate problems using traditional methods such as observation and palpation. Now, using advanced USA Equine Thermal Imaging out of Ocala, FL, abnormalities present stressed tissues even before damage occurs. This methodology has been developed and refined over the past twenty-five years and has been proven to be an effective imaging technique for the following:

  • Pre-Purchase
  • Hoof Balancing
  • Inflammation
  • General Diagnostics & Preventive Medicine
  • Pre-Event Imaging
  • Saddle Fit
  • Muscle/Nerve Injury
The Early Warning System
During a two-year study it was shown that Equine Thermal Imaging could effectively and accurately pick up subtle changes in temperature prior to major injury occurring in 95% of cases, and 2-3 weeks before the trainer or Vet became aware. Of those horses that underwent clinical examination for lameness, Equine Thermal Imaging again correctly predicted the site of the injury in 95% of cases.

Most horses don't have just one problem associated with lameness or a bad back. Often there are other secondary causes which may be overlooked, and cause the primary problem to reoccur unless they're also treated. Thermal Imaging is an excellent tool to identify these secondary problems so they can be managed too.

Since animals cannot speak, it has been difficult for caretakers to truly identify hidden or masked conditions. Now with infrared thermal imaging, many of these physiological and anatomical issues are exposed at a much earlier stage. Early detection = early prevention.

Anatomical imaging such as x-ray, lacks specificity and fails in the ability to see soft tissue conditions.

Physiological imaging, such as equine infrared imaging, has the ability to not only see tissue conditions but can also recognize areas that are indicative to anatomical issues.
